Ryedene Primary and Nursery School

Admissions

How to Apply

With effect from Friday 1st April 2022 Ryedene Primary and Nursery school will be managing their own in year admissions. Please note ECC will continue to co-ordinate the Reception applications for our school.

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

We are a two-form entry primary school with an annual intake of 60 pupils.

To apply for a school place for your child, you need to follow the following procedure:

For Reception

You must apply for your child’s school place via the Essex County Council’s web page:

www.essex.gov.uk/admissions

Once your application has been processed, you will receive a letter from Essex County Council informing you if a place is available or not (this can take up to 3 weeks). If a place is not available you will be added to our waiting list.

For Year 1 to Year 6

For our mid-term admissions we strongly encourage parents and children to come along to the school to meet the Head of School and walk around the site.  If you would like to speak to someone about admissions, please contact the school office on 01268 559291.

You can apply by completing an initial application form (found below).

Mid-year Application

You can also collect an application from the school office:

Ryedene Primary and Nursery School

Ryedene, Off Clover Way,

Basildon,

Once completed, you can return by hand or post to the above address or by email to admin@ryedene.essex.sch.uk

All in year applications are decided within two school days of receipt.

Please note during school holidays, applications will not be dealt with until the first school day back after receipt.

We look forward to your application.

Oversubscription:

Where the applications for admission exceed the number of places available, the following criteria will be applied in the order set out below to determine which children to admit.

  1. Looked After Children and previously Looked After Children;
  2. Children with a sibling attending the school;
  3. Children living in the priority admission area;
  4. Children of staff at the school where the member of staff has been employed within Lee Chapel Multi-Academy Trust for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, and/or the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage. This applies to all groups of staff;
  5. Remaining applications.

Prospective parents wishing to view the school, either during or after school hours, will be most welcome. Contact should be made with the office staff to arrange a mutually convenient appointment.

Children with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) that names Ryedene Primary School & Nursery in their EHCP are required to be admitted to the school regardless of their place in the priority order.

In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given the highest priority.

Please read our attached admission policy for further information.
